FOUR NEW APPOINTMENTS DRIVE LANDFLIGHT GROWTH

Qamar Zaman

A 60-year-old scientist is one of four new appointments made in as many weeks by Solihull firm LandFlight in response to rising demand for its executive travel services.

Qamar Zaman is proving it’s never too late for a career change after swapping the lab for life behind the wheel with the luxury private hire coach and chauffeur-drive car firm, based in Vulcan Road.

After taking early retirement from his career as a medical scientist, Qamar decided he had more in the tank and has been taken on as a chauffeur driver.

Qamar, who spent more than 30 years working for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, said: “It was my dream to work as a medical scientist and it’s what I spent years at university studying for. I had a very long and rewarding career working for the NHS Trust and it was a good time to take early retirement.

“I wanted to keep active and I enjoy driving, so the prospect of joining LandFlight greatly appealed to me. I’m enjoying the job and meeting different people and going to different places is always interesting.”

The other new recruits taken on by LandFlight are former multi-drop driver Carl Pearson and private hire driver Ahmed Nadeem, who join Qamar as chauffeurs for the West Midlands firm, while Kimberley Eden joins the company with many years bus driving experience.

LandFlight general manager Trevor Baker, who hired the four drivers, said: “Due to increased demand, we felt the time was right to expand our driver numbers. All four are highly-motivated and experienced drivers who will help us to continue offering the very highest standards for our clients.”

Established as Silverline more than 40 years ago, LandFlight counts City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), Jaguar Land Rover, Emirates and Qatar Airways among its clients and provides a range of services from individual airport and city transfers to day hires and integrated group travel programmes.

The Solihull firm has recently launched a new website as part of its major £2.3 million rebranding operation. To find out more visit www.landflight.co.uk.
